Plaza teachers and staff wave to students in car parade

Posted

This morning, a caravan of Baldwin teachers and administrators could be seen waving to students and their families from their cars as they made their way through the neighborhood surrounding Plaza Elementary School.

More than 30 cars departed from the school parking lot to pass by students’ homes and participate in the car parade, led by Plaza Principal Mark Gray. Teachers excitedly honked their horns, waved and blew kisses to their students from a safe distance away. Superintendent Dr. Shari Camhi joined the Plaza caravan, too.

The students, along with their families, cheered from their front doors and porches, some of whom held up homemade signs displaying affectionate messages.

School officials said the event aimed to bring joy and hope to all in attendance as well as a chance for familiar faces to greet each other again from safe distances apart.
