A dozen protestors gathered outside of Congressman Tom Suozzi's Glen Cove office on Friday afternoon to protest the United States government's and Suozzi's, continued support for Israel during the nation's ongoing war in Gaza. Organized by members of the Party for Socialism and Liberation protesters chanted "from the river to the sea," expressing their dissatisfaction with Suozzi's outspoken and unconditional aid to Israel.
Fawzia Syed, a Nassau County resident and constituent of Suozzi , said she met with the congressman before the February special election to speak about her concerns and plea for a ceasefire in Gaza.
“When we met with him in DC. we just asked for the minimum, a ceasefire,” Syed said. “He literally would sway the conversation and ask ‘what do you think about Hamas ?’
Suozzi has been one of Israel's firmest allies in Congress, and during his recent special election victory over former IDF soldier and Nassau County Legislator Mazi Melesa Pilip, frequently touted his credentials as a pro-Israel politician.
