The Covid-19 testing site at Jones Beach State Park reopened on Thursday, Aug. 6 after being damaged by Tropical Storm Isaias.

Tuesday’s Isaias, which at its peak left hundreds of thousands of Long Islanders without power, left Long Island’s first drive-thru testing site damaged. The severe wind caused the site’s tents to collapse. It was closed Wednesday due to the damage.

The testing site, under the jurisdiction of the State Department of Health, reopened on Thursday at 10 a.m. once again for those with appointments. State Senator John Brooks visited the testing site Friday.

“Everything is restored here,” Brooks said. “The equipment was not damaged, just the tents.”

Since it’s reopening, Jones Beach’s testing site has seen roughly 100 patients per day.
