A house fire broke out Wednesday afternoon, on Southard Drive in Island Park.
Fire fighters arrived just after 1:30 p.m. to find the side of the home fully engulfed in flames, which had also spread to a nearby shed on Island Parkway. The Island Park Fire Department, with assistance from multiple neighboring departments, successfully extinguished the blaze.
No injuries were reported. The Nassau County Fire Marshal and Arson Bomb Squad also responded. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
