An Island Park woman was arrested and charged with six felony counts of driving while intoxicated on July 22 after Nassau County police reported that she drove drunk with six children in her car.
According to the Nassau County Police Department, Theresa Viola, 52, was driving a 2015 Kia Sedona east on Delaware Avenue when she was pulled over on Ostend Avenue. She had bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and smelled of alcohol, according to police.
Police said she had six children in her car, two boys, aged 11 and 14, and four girls, two 12-year-olds and two 13-year-olds. They were released into the custody of a family member at the scene.
Viola was charged with six counts of aggravated DWI, six counts of endangering the welfare of a child and a DWI with a previous conviction. She was arraigned Friday in Mineola.
