Letter to the Lynbrook/East Rockaway Editor

To the Editor:

I invite all residents to attend the Lynbrook Fire Department’s ninth annual Concert for Wounded Warriors and Block Party at Greis Park on Sept. 21 from 4 to 10 p.m. Our volunteer firefighters work with other fire departments to support Nassau County Firefighters Operation Wounded Warrior, a nonprofit charity, to raise funds to help wounded warriors and their families and make their life a little better.

A number of wounded warriors from Bethesda, Md., and Fort Belvoir, Va., will travel to Lynbrook to attend the event and thank firefighters and residents for their support and generosity. I ask our residents to support our efforts. There is a $20 donation fee to attend the event, and food will be provided. There will also be numerous raffle prizes and chances to win JetBlue tickets. The festivities will take place in and around the Recreation Center at the park.

Residents who would like more information about the event can contact former Lynbrook Fire Department Chief Kevin Bien at (516) 993-6074. Residents who cannot attend, but wish to make a contribution can mail a check to Nassau County Firefighters Operation Wounded Warrior, P.O. Box 295, Garden City, N.Y. 11530. NCFF-OWW is not associated with the Wounded Warrior Project.
