Nassau police seeking man who attempted to rob ATM, stole cash from Oceanside market

The Nassau County Police Department is investigating a burglary that occurred in Oceanside on Jan. 12 at 12:36 a.m.

According to the NCPD, a 27-year-old man who is employed at Farmer Joel’s Market, 177 Davison Ave., responded to an alarm ringing at the business. Upon arrival, he observed an unidentified man in an alley near the rear door of the market, who was using a hand truck in an attempt to wheel an ATM that was inside the store. When the burglar realized the employee was observing him, he dropped the machine and ran east on Madison Avenue on foot.

The employee later discovered that the glass on the front door was shattered and the rear entrance was propped open, and that an unknown amount of money was taken from the register inside the store.

The suspect was described as a 6-foot-2 black man with a heavy build who was wearing dark clothing. No one was injured during the incident.
