The body of a 75-year-old man was found in the water near Long Beach bridge earlier today.
This morning at approximately 7:51 am, the Long Beach Police Department received a call for the missing person. He was last seen by his family at approximately 3 AM. LBPD began an immediate canvass of the City notifying the LBPD Detective Bureau, the LB Fire Department Rescue, Nassau County Missing Persons, Marine Bureau, the US Coast Guard and the Town of Hempstead Bay Constables.
At about 10:15 am Nassau Marine 6 recovered a body floating in the water near the Magnolia Fishing Pier that fit the description of the missing person. Although the clothing matches the missing person, an official identification of the deceased has not taken place.
There are no immediate signs indicating foul play, but the incident is under investigation.
