The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory as snow is expected to fall across most of Long Island from Sunday at 1 p.m. to Monday at 4 a.m.
As 3 to 5 inches are forecast for most of the region with up to 6 inches inland.
The snow might briefly start as rain or a mix of rain and snow.
Peak snowfall rates -- half to 1 inch per hour at times.
Temperatures are expected to drop into the teens inland and 20 degrees closer to the coastline late Sunday night and early Monday morning.
These temperatures could result in an areas of black ice on untreated surfaces causing slippery and possible hazardious conditions.
