Former Lynbrook Village Justice John O'Connor dies at 93

Former Lynbrook village justice John O’Connor died on June 21. He was 93.

O’Connor and his wife, Ann, raised 10 children together, and he practiced law for more than 40 years. He graduated from St. Francis College and St. John’s Law School, and became a senior partner at his firm.

In addition to serving as Lynbrook village justice, O’Connor also worked as a Nassau County Judicial Hearing officer. He was an active parishioner at Our Lady of Peace Parish in Lynbrook and an ardent fundraiser for the Oblate Sisters and Mercy Hospital in Rockville Centre.

Irish to the core, O’Connor was an active member of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick.

He was predeceased by Ann and five siblings, including his recently departed twin, James. He is survived by his 10 children, Rosemary (Jack), Robert (Paula), Damian (Erin), Terrence (Maureen), Sheila (Tim), Deirdre (Jodi), Patrice (Pleasant), Maura (Dan), Aileen (Jim) and Annmarie (Paul), and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

O’Connor’s wake was June 30 at Flinch & Bruns Funeral Home in Lynbrook, and his funeral Mass was set for July 1, after the Herald went to press, at Our Lady of Peace Church. In lieu of flowers, his family requests that donations be made to the OLP Parish Social Ministry, 25 Fowler Ave., Lynbrook, 11563.
