Community cleanup held in Lakeview

Posted

Volunteers of all ages rolled up their sleeves last Saturday for a cleanup near Lakeview’s Long Island Rail Road stop. Local groups such as Moms Who Care and Creative Little Learners led the clean up to collect debris, trash and overgrown weeds.

“I walk with my kids and it’s an eyesore,” said Aisha Demosthenes, one of Moms Who Cares’ founders. “We’re hoping to help in making a difference in the community.”

Younger volunteers that included students from Howard T. Herber Middle School also offered a helping hand. Additionally, some of the volunteers took part in another cleanup at Tanglewood Preserve in Rockville Centre.
