Students at the Cornwell Avenue Elementary and George Washington schools in West Hempstead honored their police officers in recognition of Law Enforcement Appreciation Day.
Assisted by their teachers, students created their own heartfelt letters, drawings and posters to thank members of the Nassau County Police Department’s 5th Precinct.
A representative of Assemblyman Ed Ra visited both schools to collect the thank-you notes from students on Jan. 8.
Cornwall Avenue students are in grades one through three. George Washington students are in grades four to six.
