Candidates announced for Nassau County's 19th Legislative District special election

Posted

Sen. Steve Rhoads left his position as Nassau County Legislator for the 19th district when he defeated John Brooks in November to head to Albany. The now vacant seat will be filled after a Feb. 28 special election.

The district represents part of Freeport and goes as far east as Seaford.

The Democratic Party has announced that its candidate for that special election will be Robert Miles, a former attorney for the Nassau County Department of Assessment and currently the Minority Caucus Counsel.

The Republican candidate will be Michael Giangregorio of Merrick, who was named the Merrick Herald Person of the Year in 2013 for his autism advocacy.
