Members of the student council at Floral-Park Bellerose raised $1,000 through a schoolwide fundraising event in order to host a breakfast on June 11 for frontline workers in the community.
The fundraiser, called Hearts 2 Help, invited students to decorate the school’s sidewalk with chalk hearts. Members of the student council decided to redirect the funds back into the community by hosting a breakfast for essential workers.
The breakfast was held on the front lawn of the school, where members of the student council set up a display where bagels, donuts, sandwiches, juices and more were offered to the frontline workers.
Frontline workers were also given paper to-go bags inscribed with messages of thanks by the students.
