The Village of Rockville Centre has appointed Anthony Iannone as superintendent of water. Iannone, a lifelong Lynbrook resident, previously served as superintendent for RVC from 2003 to 2011.

“We welcome Anthony and his nearly three decades of experience dealing with the water supply system back to the Village of Rockville Centre,” Mayor Francis Murray said in a statement. “He is an invaluable asset to our village with his familiar knowledge of our infrastructure and expertise.”

As superintendent, Iannone is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Water Department, which serves over 24,000 residents. Water in Rockville Centre is drawn from 10 wells throughout the village that are drilled to an average depth of 540 feet. The department has four elevated tanks with a combined capacity of four million gallons and is distributed through more than 70 miles of water mains.

After leaving RVC in 2011, Iannone served in a local Water District for eight years. Before working as superintendent for RVC, he worked as production engineer, operations supervisor, and safety director for the Long Island American Water Company for 10 years.

A 1979 Lynbrook High School graduate, Iannone went on to earn an associate’s degree in science from SUNY Delhi. He worked in the nuclear power field as a construction assistant before attending Nassau Community College and the University of Buffalo, where he earned a bachelor’s in civil engineering. He has two children and recently welcomed his first grandchild.

“I am excited to be back with the Village of Rockville Centre,” Iannone said in a statement. “I remain committed to ensuring that every resident receives the highest quality of water and provide residents with the advantages of local ownership and operation: low cost and high reliability.”
