Republicans maintain a stronghold in the Town of Oyster Bay

Joseph Saladino, 57, of Massapequa, a former 13-year State Assemblyman, has captured Oyster Bay’s supervisor race once again. Originally appointed in February 2017 to lead a town suffering from a tarnished image after Supervisor John Venditto resigned, facing federal corruption charges, Saladino won handedly in 2017. He won by a large margin on Tuesday as well.

Saladino was challenged by Jim Altadonna, Jr., 59, of Massapequa Park, Oyster Bay’s town clerk and a former mayor of Massapequa Park. A lifelong Republican, he ran on the Democratic line.

All three Republican candidates for Town Council also won. Incumbent Steve Labriola will be returning for another term. He will be joined by Republican newcomers Vicki Walsh and Laura Maier.

More to follow.
