Body found in burning car at Freeport residence

The Nassau County Police Department's Homicide Squad and Freeport Police are investigating a car fire at a Freeport residence where a body was found inside the vehicle on May 14.

Detectives say that Freeport officers responded to the fire at 29 Seaman Avenue at 10:45 a.m. The officers found a car fully engulfed in flames at the home’s backyard. The Freeport Fire Department arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire.

Once the fire was put out, police found a burned body inside the vehicle. Police could not immediately identify the body.

Detectives from the county’s Homicide and Arson/Bomb Squads are investigating the case alongside the Freeport Police Department.
