Arrests

On March 15 at 11:50 a.m. a 29-year-old Poughkeepsie man was arrested and charged with second-degree burglary after he entered an Oxford Place home and stole property.   

At 5:15 a.m. on March 19, a 36-year-old Hempstead man was arrested and charged with third-degree criminal mischief, grand larceny and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon while stealing a car in Parking Field 7.

A 26-year-old man from Long Beach was arrested on March 20 at 3:56 a.m. and charged with first- and second-degree vehicular manslaughter and driving while intoxicated after he struck and killed a pedestrian on Merrick Road.

Burglary

On March 21 at 1:46 a.m., someone broke the front door of Greek Town Restaurant an entered the building to steal property.

At 1:49 a.m. on March 21, someone broke the window of North Village Convenience Candy Store and entered the building to steal property.

Unusual incident

A Warick Road resident reported on March 14 at 1:16 p.m. that someone made unauthorized transactions using his online cryptocurrency account.

On March 16 at 1:16 p.m., a Winding Road resident notified police that someone made unauthorized transactions using her online bank account.

Harassment

At 4:41 p.m. on March 16, a motorist reported that he received phone calls and text messages from someone he was involved in an automobile accident with, which caused him to be fearful of them.

Narcotics destruction

The Rockville Centre Police Department transported 31 pounds of pharmaceuticals from its drug take-back box to the Nassau County Police Department for destruction on March 14 at 11:58 a.m.

Criminal mischief

On March 17 at 1:14 p.m., a member of the Rockville Centre Auxiliary Police reported that someone damaged a window at the auxiliary’s building on Chester Road.

At 3:02 p.m. on March 19, a motorist notified police that someone damaged the paint on her vehicle while it was parked on Ongley Street.

Leaving the scene

A driver reported that his car was struck by a vehicle that left the scene while he was driving on Peninsula Boulevard on March 17 at 3:45 p.m.

On March 19 at 10:12 p.m., a motorist notified police that his car was struck by a vehicle that left the scene while it was parked on Merrick Road.
