Crime watch: Rockville Centre

Arrest

On April 12 at 3:59 a.m., a 35-year-old Roosevelt man was arrested and charged with third-degree assault, criminal obstruction of breathing, criminal mischief and criminal contempt on North Centre Avenue.

Fire

At 11:56 a.m. on April 16, a State Street resident reported that there was a fire in his attached garage. The Nassau County Fire Marshal and the Nassau County Police Department’s Arson Unit deemed the blaze to be accidental.

Larceny

The owner of Illuminations reported that a former employee used a business account to purchase about $2,700 worth of merchandise from Ace Hardware without the business’s permission.

On April 12 at 7:50 p.m., a Warwick Road resident notified police that someone stole her cell phone during a sales appointment for a new phone. She said her phone was switched for a different one without her permission.

At 2:13 p.m. on April 15, a Raymond Street resident reported that items were stolen from her parked vehicle, including her Louis Vuitton bag that had her wallet, driver’s license, credit card and $40 in cash in it.

Unusual incident

The manager of the U.S. Post Office in Rockville Centre notified police that someone attempted to use a fake $100 bill to pay a postal fee.

On April 14 at 3:54 p.m., a Reeve Road resident reported that $50,000 was transferred from his Citibank account without permission by an unknown person.
