A 69-year-old woman died after being struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross Pratt Boulevard on Friday afternoon.
According to the Nassau County Homicide Squad, the accident occurred at approximately 2:07 p.m. in the vicinity of Pulaski Street. The victim was hit by a 2019 Ford van traveling southwest on Pratt Boulevard.
Emergency responders arrived on the scene and transported the woman to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead by medical staff due to severe trauma.
The driver of the van, a 68-year-old woman, remained at the scene following the accident. Authorities have not released the identities of those involved as the investigation remains ongoing.
No charges have been filed at this time, and police have not disclosed whether speed, impairment, or other factors played a role in the crash.
Pratt Boulevard, a busy roadway that connects several key areas of Glen Cove, has been the site of previous pedestrian safety concerns.
