Press 195 owner, an Oceanside resident, donates food to Mercy Medical Center

Rockville Centre’s Press 195 closed last Friday due to the coronavirus, but its owners spent the weekend preparing food to donate to healthcare workers at Mercy Medical Center.

“We were doing takeout and delivery for a bit,” said owner Chris Evans, of Oceanside, “but out of concern for our staff and customers, we decided we needed a break.”

With the leftover food, Evans helped prep 50 grab-and-go bags with soups, knishes and oranges. He delivered them to Mercy’s staff on April 2.

“You hear the stories of how hard they’re working,” Evans said, “and I can imagine the stress that they have going on and all these odd schedules for them because of shortage of workers …

“So we thought the least thing we can do for our local hospital is feed them food,” he continued. “And we do get a lot of business from the hospitals, so it was a way for us to give back and show gratitude.”
