The Rockville Centre Fire Department conducted its annual memorial service at Firefighter’s Memorial Park on Oct. 7, which remembered the members that died in the past year.
With an invocation from the Rev. Seth Arwo-Doqu and words of support and admiration from Mayor Francis X. Murray and Fire Chief Brian Cook, the service respectfully acknowledged the contributions made to the village by the fire department members who died last year.
In addition, department members who were killed in the line of duty were acknowledged with the unveiling of a dedicated memorial, which was blessed by Father Seth.
“Each individual here has made a sacrifice and gone above and beyond for another human,” Cook wrote in a message distributed at the event. “Their promise to save life and property is one they did not take lightly and we are proud to memorialize them and honor them as the fine firefighters they were.”
