A developer recently purchased an industrial property in Rockville Centre for $5.5 million and is planning to build a self-storage facility there.

WMG Rockville Owner LLC, which is an affiliate of the Florida-based Miami City Self Storage Development & Investment, purchased the 52,811-square-foot-building at 117 North Long Beach Road.

Calls to MCSS and requests for comment from Village spokeswoman Julie Grilli said the plans have been filed with the Building Department and the proposal must be approved by the village's Zoning Board and the Nassau County Planning Commission before it can move forward.

MCSS specializes in the development of self-storage buildings and will redevelop the building into a similar facility. According to the MCSS website, the company has developed about 4 million square feet of self-storage facilities in New York and Washington, D.C., and 1.5 million square feet in South Florida.
