On April 23, Tally-Ho Engine Company No. 3 of the Lynbrook Fire Department dedicated and christened its new 2021 Spartan fire truck at wet-down ceremonies in the parking lot of the firehouse on Horton Avenue.

The fire truck is the eighth piece of firefighting equipment since the company was formed 119 years ago. Lynbrook Mayor Alan Beach and members of the village board were present along with county and town officials. Also in attendance were the chiefs of the LFD and other local fire companies.

During the ceremony, former Chief and Honorary Commissioner Thomas Ryan broke the ceremonial bottle of champagne on the front pumper. Our Lady of Peace deacon Kevin McCormick also blessed it.

After the ceremony, the new fire truck was wet-down with streams of water. The new fire truck is dedicated in memory of Tally-Ho Lieutenant Fred Shnoor, who was killed in the line of duty during a fire on May 31, 1932, and former Tally-Ho Captain Jeffrey Wiener, who as a Navy Corpsman was killed in action in Iraq on May 7, 2005.
