Artists show off the beauty of Oceanside

Posted

Photographers in the Oceanside Library Photography Club showed off what makes Oceanside so spectacular this past Sunday during their photography reception. With the prompt being a focus on Oceanside and what the community means to them, photographers shot dazzling pictures which will be on display at the library through the end of April. During the reception each photographer had an opportunity to share their work and any other information they wanted to, including their process and their background in photography.

The Oceanside Library Photography Club was founded by member Penny Frondelli, a passionate photographer who came to the Oceanside Library with an idea to start a photography club a few months back. The library took to the idea and got the club up and running in November. The goal was to create a space for teens and adults of all ages to meet and discuss their photography methods, exchange ideas, and find new photography opportunities in the community.

Although teens don’t participate in the club meetings, teen librarian Gabriella Trinchetta, who facilitates the meetings, reached out to an Oceanside High School photography teacher and asked if any of their students wanted to submit work for the display.

“I was thrilled to receive impressive submissions from 11 teens,” Trinchetta wrote in an email to the Herald, “We chose one student’s photography to include in the community room display and then created a teen photography display in our teen area. I wanted to find a way to showcase the talented photography!

The club is hoping participation will grow now after the reception and looks forward to continuing the club’s mission of connecting photographers of different ages and skill levels throughout the community and everyone can learn something from each other.
