Village trustees voted unanimously to adopt the proposed 2019-20 budget on Monday night, which increased 1.9 percent from the previous fiscal year. Under the $6.1 million budget, the average Sea Cliff homeowner will see their village tax bill increase by $34, or 65 cents per week, this year.

Mayor Edward Lieberman gave a presentation indicating which appropriation lines had changed from 2018-19. The proposed tax levy adheres to the 2 percent state tax cap, coming in at $5.4 million. Village revenues, which comprise PILOTs, court fines and building permit fees, are down 1.8 percent, and the public works budget, which includes garbage and recycling services, street, sidewalk and park maintenance and snow removal, is up 4.2 percent.

Funded projects are set to decrease by roughly 9 percent; they include capital projects, beach maintenance, recreation services and senior programs. The budget’s general government lines, which cover building maintenance, library and museum services, insurance policies and appointed boards, are expected to increase by 2.6 percent, or $52,647. The village’s debt service will decrease roughly 2 percent under the adopted budget.
