Seaford Fire Department sells entire supply at Easter Plant Sale

The Seaford Fire Department’s Hook, Ladder and Engine Company No. 1 Easter Plant Sale was supposed to run from April 3 and 4, but because of the “tremendous generosity and support” from the community, there were no more plants to sell on Easter Sunday.

“On behalf of the Seaford Fire department, I would like to thank all those who purchased plants and those who spread the word, all of which contributed to the success of this year’s sale,” wrote firefighter Phil Nicola on the fire department’s Facebook page. “I promise that next year we will have an even greater supply of flowers and plants so that we can accommodate everyone, including those who missed out this year.”

On Saturday, the Seaford Fire Department was bustling with people from the local community grabbing from the department’s steadily decreasing supply of spring flowers. It was nice to see everyone out and about, Nicola said.

“With Covid last year we had to cancel,” said Nicola. “Fortunately the community was with us, which was nice, and the weather was in our favor too, which made a big difference.”

The sale supports events hosted by the fire department throughout the year, like the annual Christmas Tree Lighting.
