In what is called old-fashioned drill events the Seaford Inmates representing the Seaford Fire Department took the spot over the Bayville Oak Neckers, Lynbrook Tumblers, Albertson Slo Pokes and the Point Lookout Smokin Seagulls at the Nassau County Drill at the Four Towns Fireman’s Training Center in Merrick on July 9.  The North Merrick Fire Department were the event hosts.

From Bellmore-Merrick, the North Bellmore Rinky Dinks, the Bellmore Ballbreakers, and the North Merrick Stump Jumpers participated in the festivities.

In the motorized drill events, the North Bellmore Rinky Dinks took first place. In second through fourth place were the Oyster Bay Teddy’s Boys, West Hempstead Westerners and Westbury Turtles, respectively. The South Hempstead Rascals and Carle Place Frogs tied for fifth.

The fire departments are preparing for the 2022 New York State Parade and Drill in August, hosted by the North Bellmore Fire Department. The drill will take place on Aug. 20, and the parade on Aug. 21.

Admission will be $10 for adults and $7 for children — drill festivities will startat the Four Town’s Training Facility, and the parade will take place on the streets of Bellmore.
