College sorority promotes art in annual panorama

Theta Iota Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated hosted its 16th Annual Arts Panorama – “Excelling in The Arts.” The annual Arts Panorama allows the chapter to highlight talented students across Long Island. In a day when many school districts are forced to cut funding for the arts, Theta Iota Omega chapter continues to promote the arts with its Annual Arts Panorama.

Traditionally, the event is held on the first Saturday in May. This year, however, it was held at the Uniondale Library. The scholarship recipients reflected the towns of Roosevelt, Elmont, Baldwin, Uniondale, Hempstead and other parts of Long Island.

By the end of the program $7,500 in both academic and cultural arts scholarships were distributed. Theta Iota Omega chapter has implemented effective programs that have impacted Long Island, the state of New York, and internationally for nearly half a century. It is noted that Theta Iota Omega chapter has awarded over $650,000 in academic and cultural arts scholarships over the years.

By forming valuable partnerships, the chapter continues to launch new dimensions in sisterhood and service. Chapter members are professional women, leaders in their fields, and trailblazers in their communities. The members of Theta Iota Omega chapter are committed to providing service to all mankind. The president of the chapter is Kiona P. DeWitt.
