The Baldwin Hot Rod Association teamed up with the Irish Pub to host a drive-through holiday Car Show to benefit Toys for Tots on Dec. 13.

Neighbors drove through the Irish Pub parking lot behind the business, on Merrick Road in Baldwin, and dropped off toys. Organizers said eight boxes were filled with toys to be donated to children in need this holiday season.

The boxes were dropped off at the Freeport Police Department.

Local residents enjoyed classic cars, food and drink specials from the Irish Pub and the holiday spirit as the Grinch greeted people and posed for photos. The event was sponsored by the Baldwin Hot Rod Association, the Irish Pub and Grand View Auto Body.

“I was just trying to bring people out, trying to do the right thing,” said organizer Steve Burke, of the Baldwin Hot Rod Association.

Burke said he worked hard to organize the end-of-the-year event, and thanked everyone who helped make it a reality.

Recently, his friend Rich Baldassano, of Baldwin, lost his brother, Robert Baldassano, and his friend Jack McGinley lost his wife. The event, Burke said, was dedicated to their loving memory.

Additionally, three women from the Rescue Vixens attended the event and posed for photos wearing holiday-themed pin-up attire. Ms. February, or “Catie Chaos,” Ms. October, or “Tombstone Tess,” and Ms. November, or “Bookworm Sami,” joined the fun and sold calendars showing off their provocative photo shoots to benefit the rescue.
