Posted

For the first time, Malverne High School has been ranked on the U.S. News and World Reports Best High Schools list. Not only is Malverne High School ranked in the top 11 percent of schools in the nation, but very few schools on the list share Malverne’s demographics.

“Our diversity is our strength and Malverne is a shining example of what can be accomplished with a steadfast commitment to access and equity, and a genuine belief in the potential of all students,” Malverne High School Principal Dr. Vincent Romano said, in a news release. “We have a family atmosphere and we strive to challenge and support students to achieve at levels they never thought possible. We treat students as if they were our own children.”

Schools are ranked on six factors: college readiness (30 percent), math and reading proficiency (20 percent), math and reading performance (20 percent), underserved student performance (10 percent), college curriculum breadth (10 percent) and graduation rate (10 percent).

More than 23,000 schools were evaluated with 1,200 of those schools representing New York state. Malverne High School was ranked 178th in the state, 50th on Long Island and 32nd in Nassau County.
