New York American Water is investing $260,000 to replace 820 feet of aging water main with a new eight-inch ductile iron main along Lancaster and Bristol streets in Lynbrook. The project will also replace 20 company-owned service lines and a fire hydrant.

“New York American Water is committed to providing high-quality water service for our customers,” NYAW’s Director of Engineering John Kilpatrick said, according to a news release. “These new revitalized water mains will ensure our distribution system is strong and effective for years to come.”

Work began last week and is expected to take about three weeks to complete. All construction will occur between  8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Sections of the street where construction is taking place may be closed to traffic during work hours. NYAW will coordinate with residents in proximity to the construction site to minimize disruptions.

Final road restoration will be completed by the Village of Lynbrook in a road construction project.

The utility advises that pedestrians and drivers take caution while near work sites. Any resident with a concern or question about the planned work is encouraged to call NYAW’s customer service center at (877) 426-6999.
