The Peninsula Kiwanis Club thanked its outgoing officers and welcomed the incoming officers at the charitable organization’s annual installation dinner at EGP Land & Sea in Island Park on Oct. 2.
Kiwanis Lt. Governor Ralph Desena of Lynbrook, outgoing President Howard Tompkin from East Rockaway and incoming President Kevin Cooney from Island Park received Town of Hempstead certificates of recognition from Councilman Anthony D’Esposito.
For 51 years, Peninsula Kiwanis has been part of the Five Towns charitable landscape. The club sent 60 children to Kamp Kiwanis this summer and presents money to graduating seniors from Hewlett and Lawrence high schools. They also financially support the Action Club, which is part of Camp Anchor, which serves special-needs youth, as well as the annual Special Field Day picnic in May at the town park in Lido Beach.
