Pet dies in raging house fire in Malverne

The Malverne Fire Department reported one family pet died and another was rescued in a fire that tore through a Scarcliffe Drive home in Malverne last month.

Malverne firefighters, under the command of Chief Richard Bopp, responded at 7:03 p.m. to the blaze. Bopp immediately broadcasted a Signal 10 for a working fire, as heavy smoke and flames poured out of the house. The residents were not home at the time.

Firefighters stretched hose lines into the front door and made their way to the rear of the house, which was engulfed in flames. Neighboring fire departments from Elmont, Lynbrook, Valley Stream and Rockville Centre came to the scene and stood by to cover other alarms in the village.
