Police: Two women arrested for shoplifting in Freeport

The Nassau County Police Department, First Squad detectives arrested two women allegedly involved in a shoplifting incident at Ebony Beauty Supply at 171 W. Merrick Road in Freeport that occurred on Oct. 13 at 3:15 p.m.

According to detectives, two women, Jennifer Steele-Taylor, 36, from Milburn Avenue, Baldwin and Jennifer Dadd, 37 from Jean Avenue, Hempstead, entered the store and were observed by the owner who recognized Dadd for prior involvement in a shoplifting incident at the store.

According to police, after observing Dadd items from the shelves and never going to the register as she was leaving the store, the unidentified owner, suspecting she was stealing store merchandise, confronted her and asked to see her bag. Dadd became enraged and punched the owner in the face before fleeing the store with Steele-Taylor.

As both women were fleeing the store, the owner saw the woman Steele-Taylor reach into the woman with Dadd’s bag and throw stolen store merchandise onto the floor. The women then were seen entering a silver or gray vehicle that was parked in front of the business.

Steele and Dadd are charged with charged with two counts of robbery in the second degree, assault in the second degree and criminal mischief in the third degree.  Both women were arraigned
