The Rockville Centre Homemakers presented hand-made fleece blankets to representatives at South Nassau Communities Hospital and Mercy Medical Center last week to pass along to patients.
The Homemakers, a group of local women of all ages, celebrated their 100th anniversary last year, and are no strangers to community service. They have supported Mercy Medical Center, South Nassau Communities Hospital and other local organizations over the years by also making pillows for breast cancer patients, hats for premature babies and red scarves for heart patients.
The group meets every Tuesday at the Rockville Centre Recreation Center, and is looking for new members, 18 or older, for its fall session, beginning in September. Those interested can contact RVC Homemakers Co-President Karen Alterson at (516) 318-6771.
