Tribute to Malverne TV’s former sound man

Posted

Vito Ilardi died at the age of 97 on Sept. 28, just a few weeks before his birthday.
Ilardi served his country in World War II in the Persian Gulf, keeping the supply lines open to our Soviet Allies. After serving in the U.S. military, Ilardi returned home and went to school on the G.I. Bill and pursued a career as a sound man with the Motion Picture and Television Industry. It was educational just listening to Ilardi when he spoke about his career.
Ilardi served as the commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1073 for two years in 1991 and 1992. In the 1990s, Ilardi served the Village of Malverne as an audio technician and a photographer for Malverne TV.
He also served as a member of the Malverne Historical and Preservation Society for many years. On a personal note, it was a pleasure for me to have known and worked with him at the historical society. He will certainly be missed by all.

Respectfully submitted,
