'Vaxmobile' rolls through Island Park

The potential for a return to normalcy rolled through Island Park on April 7 and 8 as the Mount Sinai South Nassau hospital “Vaxmobile” came to town.

The mobile traveled to inoculate underserved residents in the village and other areas in the Town of Hempstead. The mobile parked near the Long Island Rail Road parking lot in Island Park, enabling residents with appointments to roll up their sleeves and take the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

Staff from MSSN in Oceanside administered the vaccines, and the “Vaxmobile” was purchased by Town of Hempstead officials through Federal CARES funds.

Hempstead Town Supervisor Don Clavin, Town Councilman Anthony D’Esposito and Town Clerk Kate Murray took part in the event.
