Voters approve Lynbrook Public Schools' $91.4M budget, elect Marcus, Palleschi to school board

Lynbrook voters approved the district's 2020-21 budget and elected incumbent Ellen Marcus and newcomer Patrick Palleschi to the Board of Education. 

The $91.4 million spending plan includes enrichment opportunities at the elementary level, coordinated English as a New Language services as well as lessons and support services for social and emotional learning.

Voters also approved all three propositions on the ballot. Proposition 2 authorizes the district to use the technology replacement reserve fund to replace fourth and fifth grade laptops and put in place additional security systems, while Proposition 3  enables officials to use the building improvement and equipment fund for renovations and the fourth proposition  establishes a new capital reserves fund. 

Marcus received 2,493 votes, and Palleschi earned 2,372. Julia Scholl (1,475) and Nazia DeFrank (564) also ran for the board.
