Wantagh Schools enjoy smooth opening

With summer vacation and Labor Day Weekend in the all-too-recent past, Wantagh School District enjoyed a productive first day of classes on Tuesday, Sept. 3rd. Bright yellow buses and a cool September morning provided the backdrop for a successful start. Wantagh’s students returned to the hallways toting backpacks and lunches and wearing their best outfits and smiles to greet their new teachers.

Members of the board of education, Superintendent of Schools John McNamara, Assistant Superintendent for Instruction Dr. Marc Ferris and Assistant Superintendent for Business Anthony Clemens joined the principals in welcoming the returning students at the door. The group also lent a helping hand to the younger students off the bus.

The smooth opening pleased McNamara. “The faculty and students were enthusiastic about the new school year and instruction began immediately,” he said. “I am confident that 2019-2020 will be a productive and positive school year for all Wantagh students.”

The new school year will be an opportunity for students to learn, grow socially, and make lifelong connections with classmates and teachers.
