Also, mall entryways are being renovated to make them more prominent and accessible to shoppers. Oweazim said that entrances will remain open during construction, but some may be closed for a time in order to complete the construction safely. November 2014 is the targeted date of completion for the renovations to the mall’s exterior.

The Green Acres Mall opened in 1956 and has become a popular place for residents of Valley Stream, Queens and other surrounding communities. Macerich, a real estate company, bought the Green Acres Mall for $500 million in January of 2013. The last renovations occurred under the previous ownership of Vornado Realty Trust in 2006-07.

Green Acres Mall now has 23 fast food or restaurant options available to customers.
