Tony Smith, the owner of SAS Real Estate and a member of the Wantagh Chamber of Commerce, died on Feb. 27.

In a post on the Wantagh Chamber’s Facebook page, President Cathy McGrory Powell wrote:

“Tony’s generosity and support of the Chamber, was so very much appreciated. Tony was first in line to offer his help for any and every event we had. Tony even donated his ad space on the back of the Herald for the Chamber to use. He would call me to tell me how happy he was with what the Chamber was doing. He offered words of encouragement and expressed his appreciation. The faith that Tony had in us, meant so very much to me. His presence will truly be missed.”

Smith was a life long supporter of the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation and founded The Cheryl Manne Research Fund in memory of his late wife to continue their desire to find a cure for MS.

In lieu of flowers, Smith’s family requests that his loved ones make donations to The Cheryl Manne Research Fund Benefiting Multiple Sclerosis. They could be sent with the memo, “The Cheryl Manne Research Fund,” to Hofstra University at 101 Hofstra University, 102C Hofstra Hall, Hempstead, NY 11549.

There will be an in-depth obituary commemorating Smith’s life, to be published in the next edition of the Wantagh Herald.
