Waldinger Library hosts local artist’s first exhibition

The Henry Waldinger Memorial Library is showcasing the work of local artist, Yuliya Lobach, for art-lovers, nature enthusiasts, and curious patrons alike. Lobach’s inaugural public art exhibition, titled “Four Seasons in Its Beauty,” features more than a dozen of her mesmerizing acrylic paintings capturing the seasonal transformations of Arthur J. Hendrickson Park. The paintings can be found lined up, flanking high above either side of the reading tables at the Adult Room, offering an ample view of Lobach’s colorfully lush and breathtakingly beautiful renderings of the local scenery.
This is the library’s first art exhibit since the pandemic, according to library director, Maire Eng. The staff is “very excited because [Lobach] is very talented and not everybody has Facebook,” said Eng, noting that, until recently, Lobach has exclusively used social media to display her work. “We have people come in to specifically look at the paintings…and they all say she’s very talented,” Eng further added.
Lobach said the main goal of the exhibit was “to meet with [her] fans in person, to see their reactions to [the] paintings and to hear their feedback.”
“I wanted to gather the residents of Valley Stream and thank them for their love of my art,” said Lobach.
Currently, Lobach is working on expanding her collection of works, considering the library exhibition as a kind of “rehearsal” for future exhibitions to come. She is also trying to adjust to her newfound public visibility as an artist. “My art has somewhat changed the way my family views me. My oldest daughter has been asked several times by her teachers [at school] if she is the daughter of the local artist. My daughter always proudly says ‘yes’,” said Lobach. The exhibition will last until the end of the year.
