A wintry student mixer at Grant Park in Hewlett

Posted

The Grant Park ice skating rink had a distinct winter feel as a light snow fell on the Hewlett and Ogden elementary school third-and fourth-graders who skated, socialized and snacked for two hours at a mixer on Jan. 23.

Parent Teacher Association parents from both schools coordinated the mixer, along with assistance from the Hewlett-Woodmere Business Association, including members Nicole Eliopoulos of State Farm, an Ogden parent, Pinella Tajcher from V. I. Properties, who donated the pizza, and  Randy Rosner, owner of Bagel Boss in Hewlett provided the hot chocolates.

Team Bionica, the all-girls Hewlett High School robotics team, presented a demonstration.

A community skate for Hewlett-Woodmere School District residents sponsored by the Hewlett Lawrence Soccer Club and the HWBA will take place at Grant Park, 1625 Broadway, Hewlett, on Sunday, Jan. 30 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Skate rental, pizza, snacks and drinks and giveaways, $20 per person. For children under 7, parents must register to skate with their child or children.
