Bomb squad investigates suspicious package at Home Depot

Nassau County Police cruisers surrounded the Home Depot at 3350 Hempstead Turnpike in Levittown on May 15 as members of the department’s arson and bomb squad responded to an alert about an unclaimed package.

Police tape surrounded the store as nearly a dozen police vehicles blocked entrances to the store and garden center that occupies an entire block east of Gardiners Avenue. Officers at the scene would only confirm that an unspecified “investigation” was ongoing.

Calls to the NCPD Public Information Office went unanswered, and Eighth Precinct officers would offer no further details.
