The Wantagh High SchoolClass of 1985 has canceled its 35th reunion in the face of the Covid-19 crisis and has not scheduled a back-up date.

The event, was originally scheduled for Saturday, June 18, at 317 Main Street, a gastropub in Farmingdale, said Alison Lorch, a member of the event’s organizing committee. Committee members have discussed a number of alternatives, including a get together in late summer, but “the plans are in wait-and-see mode for now,” she said.

“Our Reunions usually draw crowds of 75 or more classmates with people flying in from around the country to attend,” Lorch said. They last met as a class at the 30th reunion, in 2015.

Beginning March 1, class members began taking turns posting 80s trivia questions on the event’s Facebook page each Sunday evening. Lorch said the trivia challenge would continue.

“We feel that it helps to soften the disappointment we are all feeling in the cancellation of the 35th Reunion,” Lorch wrote in an email. “At the end of all the trivia posts in July, we will have … prizes mailed to the winners with the most points,” she wrote.

“We are trying to make the best of our situation we are all in.”
