The Town of Hempstead stated that a shark was spotted at Hewlett Point Beach on Thursday afternoon.

A shark was spotted at Hewlett Point Beach on Thursday afternoon.

The Town of Hempstead's X account stated that lifeguards are on alert and will continue to monitor the waters to ensure the safety of beachgoers.

The beach, which is located at 130 Hewlett Point Ave. in East Rockaway, has been red-flagged from 2:40 p.m. to 3:40 p.m.
