A Woodbury man was arrested in Seaford in the early morning hours of August 1.

Detectives said that officers were dispatched to investigate a call for a suspicious vehicle on Island Channel Road in Wantagh. Officers observed Angelo Santamaria, 45, of Westbury, swerve into oncoming traffic on Island Channel Road. Santamaria refused to stop when police attempted to pull him over, before parking and fleeing on foot.

Police eventually caught up to Santamaria on Cecilia Place in Seaford and made the arrest.

Santamaria has been charged with third degree bail jumping, third degree unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, and a number of traffic violations. He has two open warrants, one in Nassau, and one in Suffolk.

Santamaria has a criminal history; he was arrested on April 2 and charged with petit larceny. He had also been arrested on May 8 for grand larcency. Both times, Santamaria was released with no bail and received appearance tickets he didn’t appear for.

Angelo Santamaria was arraigned on August 1 at the First District Court in Hempstead.
