West Hempstead’s girls’ volleyball team put the finishing touches on what was a very fruitful regular season last week. The team finished with a 14-3 record, which was the second-best mark in conference AA/B3.

Echo Park site to honor 1962 Little League champions

A dedication site at Echo Park honoring the 1962 West Hempstead team that won the Little League World Series Senior Division Championship in Williamsburg, Pa., that year is being organized by a 17-year-old aspiring Eagle Scout from West Hempstead.

A retirement celebration for Mary Ann Pellegrino, who has served as the director of the religious education program at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in West Hempstead for 22 years, will be held on Oct. 24.
