A warm community welcome in West Hempstead

The West Hempstead School District hosted a Community Welcome event outdoors at West Hempstead High School on Aug. 27. In collaboration between the district, PTA, PTSA, SEPTA and PARP organizations, an afternoon of fun was provided for students and families.

In addition to a barbecue, the outdoor festivities featured activities including art stations, a book swap, lawn games, a mindfulness table and a social media photo booth. Students of all ages enjoyed spending time with friends, meeting new peers and getting to know members of the administration, board of education and faculty. The event was designed to provide a warm welcome to all district families prior to the start of the 2021-22 school year.
